Mosquito Fogger – Just Fogs Mosquitoes Out!

Protection from mosquitoes or rather mosquito bites has become extremely necessary today what with so many diseases that are mosquito-borne. There is the ever-present threat of being infected with diseases like dengue, malaria and the West Nile virus. How do you protect yourself and your family? What you need to do is to control the mosquito menace and you will be all right. How do you stop the mosquitoes from biting? Today, there are several options that you can look at. The usual ones are using repellant, burning candles that repel them, using netting to prevent them getting to you or of course, you could use a mosquito fogger.

How do you choose a mosquito fogger? It all depends on how bad the mosquito menace is. If it is really bad, then you need a larger sized one. If you have water bodies around your area like a pond or a fountain, then you need a larger one too. Of course, water bodies could always be tackled with mosquito dunks but maybe even then, a few mosquitoes will be seen hovering around. In which case a mosquito fogger will complete the task of elimination. People living near lakes have an even greater problem and no matter how much of mosquito repellant you use, you still come under the mosquito attack.

The mosquito fogger goes beyond mosquitoes. It even gets rid of spiders, gnats, flies and other insects that are a nuisance. You need to decide whether you want a mosquito fogger inside the house or outside. Let’s take a look at the range that is available. You get electric modes as well as models that are gas-powered. You get them for single rooms as well as large areas. You can use them indoors or outdoors. Depending on your requirement, you can pick the size from the available range.

What precautions do you need to take? If you are using it in a single room, the mosquito fogger you need will come in a can which you can set off and then leave the room, closing it behind you. Be careful to clear away all the food before you do so. Keep pets and small children away as well. After the fogging is done, wait for a while, say 4 hours before you enter the area that has been fogged. The fogging should ideally be done in the early evening because that is when the mosquitoes come in. The fogging should be repeated regularly.

Generally, foggers are used only outdoors but they are very effective indoors as well in mosquito-infested areas. The spray used in the foggers may sometimes cause allergies so if you find that someone in the family gets an allergic reaction, keep that person far away when next you do it. The spray also tends to exterminate other insects like praying mantises, ladybugs and butterflies, many more if there is a breeze and the spray gets blown beyond the area to be treated. Another danger is the mosquitoes that survive. Somehow they come back stronger and more resistant to the fogger so it means that you will have to spray more and more often. Like everything, mosquito foggers have their pros and cons but they do bring a lot of relief if you do have a lot of mosquitoes around.
