How To Manage Mosquito Netting

What is by far the best way of protecting yourself from mosquitoes? If it’s while you are sleeping, it’s got to be mosquito netting. It’s the easiest way to keep mosquitoes out and also the quickest because you don’t need to wait for some chemical to act but just slide into the netting and you are safe. So what the netting does is not drive away the mosquitoes as the other repellants do but shield you from them. The mosquitoes still keep flying around but they cannot enter the area where you are in because the netting prevents that.

The great thing about mosquito netting is that it does not obstruct the flow of air. The netting is such a fine mesh that air can flow through freely so you are not deprived of fresh air. Neither does it pollute the air with poisonous fumes like some mosquito repellants do. This could be a health hazard. It also does not damage the environment. For example, foggers kill insects other than mosquitoes too. It also does not entail a waiting period before you can use a particular area as repellants which are sprayed very often specify.

Mosquito netting is also very convenient to carry around. Today you get them in a range of sizes and shapes. In fact, it could add a touch of flair to your night life. It can be put over the baby’s bed, as a canopy over yours, at campsites or even out in the patio.

However, while looking at its aesthetic appeal, don’t forget the main purpose for which you’ve got it. The netting should comfortably cover your bed. There must be a gap between where you are sleeping and the netting or you’ll find yourself getting bitten in the parts that are resting against the netting. Make sure there are no holes in the netting. There should be no gaps between the bed and the netting either as even a tiny hole is enough for those pesky flying nuisances to get in. Then it’s even worse because you become a captive victim.

The best netting would be one with a mesh space of 1.2mm x 1.2mm. This would ensure that the air circulation is good and the mosquitoes can’t get in. Then you should look at what shape you want. You could get yourself a rectangular one because with them you have a lot of space inside. When you get a pyramid shape one which is hung up from one point, there isn’t too much of space so that would really be better for an individual. There’s a choice of material as well. There’s cotton and there’s polyester. Cotton is more comfortable perhaps but polyester is easier to maintain and is light as well as resistant to water. Today you also get netting that has been treated with repellant to make it doubly effective. True, the effect is usually only for a year but it does provide added protection.

You also find nettings for other areas. You can get them now for patios or gazebos. You can also get them to put on top of sleeping bags or even for a garden, a camping area or a balcony. You really cannot beat this simple form of protection. As regards what kind of netting to buy, you will have to choose depending on what you want it for.
